My Favourite 10 Photos from 2016
I've been fortunate enough to photograph some amazing weddings in 2016 and have travelled around a bit too! Here are some of my favourite photos from the past year.
1. The wedding of Jo & Jezz at Deer Park Country House Hotel, Devon.
It was an absolutely gorgeous April day for Jo and Jezz's wedding at the Deer Park Country House Hotel in Devon. The sunset was so impressive, I couldn't resist getting this silhouette of the couple as the sun went down at the end of this idyllic day.
2. The wedding of Nicola & David at the Mandarin Oriental.
I love this portrait of Nicola having a few quiet moments to herself before her wedding at the Mandarin Oriental.
3. The Land of the Long White Cloud.
Walking alongside Lake Pukaki in New Zealand, the turquoise water of the lake became flat and presented me with this stunning reflection of Mount Cook. Aotearoa, the Māori name for New Zealand means land of the long white cloud.
4. Robert Plant at NOS Alive
This was the second time I have photographed the legendary Led Zeppelin front man. I love this photo, as the lighting is great and it's a perfect 'front on' photo - something that rarely happens when singers are stuck behind a microphone stand.
5. First dance at Ashdown Park.
Rhiannon and Daniel's wedding reception venue at Ashdown Park Hotel & Country Club in East Grinstead was an absolutely amazing setting. The dance floor below the magnificent Harry Clarke stained glass windows made for a great first dance photo!
6. Federico & Linda's wedding waltz.
This stunning wedding, set on the Island of Torcello in Venice, was an absolute joy to photograph. A mix of Danish and Italian traditions in the intimate company of close friends and family. The reception was held at the historical Locanda Cipriani and the happy couple danced the traditional Danish wedding waltz just before midnight.
7. Finalist: Travel Photographer of the Year.
It was a great honour to be selected as a finalist for the Travel Photographer of the Year with this photograph of the sunset over Greymouth beach on the West Coast of New Zealand.
8. Lisa & Jake's wedding at Museum of the Order of St John.
I always strive to get natural wedding portraits, rather than posed. The reflections of Lisa and Jake in the glass display cabinets make this wedding portrait one of my favourites this year.
9. Models at the RUN presentation during London Fashion Week.
I decided to draw attention to the identical hairstyles in this photograph, by cropping in and giving lots of negative space around the models.
10. A portrait of Jana at Gravetye Manor.
The bright autumn colours in the garden of Gravetye Manor in Sussex seemed to go on forever and Jana's pink wedding dress looked stunning against this autumnal backdrop.
