Heathy Lea Wedding Photography - Jayne and Jim

Jayne and Jim Wedding

One of the best perks of being a wedding photographer is getting to travel to some amazing locations all over the U.K. and abroad. Peak District weddings are always staggeringly beautiful, and Jim and Jayne’s marquee wedding at Heathy Lea B&B was one of the most relaxed, fun weddings I’ve been to!

Heathy Lea, on Chatsworth Estate, lets couples book out the entire venue for a weekend which really sets the tone for an informal wedding in a relaxed wedding venue. Jayne and Jim’s friends and family were such a delight to be around! As everyone enjoyed some quality time together on the estate, I was able to seamlessly blend in to capture the most personal moments with spontaneous, natural photography in the soft afternoon light.

Capturing the wedding preparations tells a huge part of the story and is often the best time to find those little glimpses of raw emotion before everyone gets swept up in the celebrations of the day. I managed to take some amazing candid shots of Amba Logan doing Jayne’s hair and makeup at her mum’s house nearby, and captured the look of pure pride on Jayne’s mum’s face the moment she first saw her daughter in her delicate Emily Bridal gown!

The whole ceremony felt like a holiday in the garden of a seventeenth century farmhouse. Jayne arrived in her dad’s vintage Alfa Romeo, then she and Jim said their vows in the summer house and signed their marriage certificate beneath one of Jim’s stunning photos of the spot where he proposed to her in the Lake District.

Even the dogs were invited to the wedding!

The Peak District is stunning for natural wedding photography. As we set off into the lemon-emerald fields to shoot their first few moments together as a married couple, dark storm clouds bunched in the sky, bringing a sense of intensity and drama to these otherwise open landscapes. The rains held off, and the photos turned out beautifully soft and romantic as the happy couple were drenched in exquisite natural light before heading back into the marquee to celebrate.

In keeping with their sense of fun, Jim and Jayne’s reception was brilliant! They had a quirky cartoon car on their wedding cake, cut it with a sword and partied the afternoon away with air guitars, selfies, lots of laughter and some very smiley guests!
