Notley Abbey Wedding Photography - Lauren and Ashley
Located only fifty miles from London, Buckinghamshire is the perfect place for a country house wedding. Bordering Oxfordshire and only a stone's throw from the Chilterns is one of the most beautiful wedding venues in Buckinghamshire - Notley Abbey. The award-winning country house wedding venue was acquired by Bijou Wedding Venues in 2006 and after careful restoration, this building regained both its historic significance and quaint charm. One of the loveliest weddings I shot this past summer in this sought-after venue was Lauren and Ashley’s.
Lauren and Ashley's down-to-earth wedding was simple and elegant. Without an overwhelming amount of décor, everything came together well - each element complementing one another in a seamless fashion. To keep the focus solely on the wedding itself and the gorgeous venue, the only decorative accents during the ceremony were the beautiful florals by Petals & Confetti. Going with the English country wedding theme, all flower arrangements were made up of stunning pink and white roses. It was one thing to see the bouquet and the centrepieces, but the massive flower wall was something else - so impressive!
Notley Abbey is a fantastic wedding venue in the sense that it really does have it all. From romantic walled gardens to the beautiful house itself, equipped with everything a wedding might need. While Laura Carroll did the makeup and Hair by Elle worked on Lauren's gorgeous wavy updo, the bridal party enjoyed unmatched views of the grounds from the spacious Bridal Suite.
The ceremony took place in Abbot's Hall which was ideal for their medium sized wedding party while still retaining an intimate atmosphere. After the ceremony the couple was cheered on by their families and friends and a generous amount of colourful confetti.
Notley Abbey provides numerous spectacular backdrops for wedding photography - lush green gardens, a stunning country allée, and a more secluded fairytale-like woodland near the river. It doesn't get better than this.
One of the most celebrated spaces in Notley Abbey is without a doubt the Monks' Refectory - a beautiful stone wall reception space with exposed wooden beams and large windows letting in the natural daylight. For Lauren and Ashley's wedding dinner, the space was decorated with the most beautiful fairy lights and chandeliers, while huge white balloons and light up letters with Lauren and Ashley's initials added a level of playfulness. The day continued with everyone sharing personal stories about the couple and the room was filled with joyous laughter before the dancing commenced later on with everyone's finest moves on the dancefloor.
